Queensboro FC is the newest professional men’s soccer team in Queens, New York. The club will start playing in the 2022 season of the USL Championship, the top tier of the United Soccer League (USL).
Queens, often called the “diversity capital of the world”, is home to over 2 million residents, 150 nationalities and 130 languages across more than 90 distinct neighborhoods and 100 square miles. With soccer as Queens’ most popular sport – Queensboro FC aims to embrace and unite “the world’s borough” and honor the beautiful game in the streets, in the park, in the community – and soon, on the pitch in its own stadium. Queensboro FC stands for more than sports, it is a movement for unifying people across the world.
The USL Championship is one of the most successful professional soccer leagues in the world, reaching a population of more than 84 million supporters while fueling the growth of the game across North America. The league currently serves as the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) sanctioned Division II professional league, placing it under MLS (Division I) in the United States’ soccer pyramid. The Championship is owned and operated by the USL, the largest professional soccer organization in North America, which oversees three leagues and more than 100 clubs across the United States and Canada.
The club will kick off in 2022 and play in The USL Championship, the top tier of the USL. The club will field a USL Academy team in the 2021 season to establish the proper youth development foundation to support the professional team ahead of its debut in 2022.
The USL Academy team will begin playing in 2021 and intends to host home matches in Queens at a newly developed field. More information will be available in the coming months for both the academy and professional team venues. Stay tuned.
Under the direction of David Villa, our club roster will be developed in preparation for the inaugural Academy season in 2021 and the inaugural professional team season in 2022.
